MURS360BT3G.pdf
The MURS360BT3G is ON Semiconductor's 600V/3A ultrafast rectifier in a DO-214AA (SMB) package: 75ns trr, 1.25V VF at 3A, 100A surge. If you need 600V headroom in a surface-mount footprint for a 230V AC SMPS output or PFC boost, this is the part.
The SMB package is the differentiator here. Most 600V/3A ultrafast rectifiers ship in the larger SMC footprint — MURS360BT3G fits the same performance into a smaller, lower-profile package. For compact AC adapters and laptop power bricks where every millimetre of board height matters, that package shrink saves a layout iteration.

Key numbers that matter: 600V at 3A in an SMB package. At 230V AC rectified (~325V DC bus), you have nearly 2× voltage margin for ringing and transients. The 75ns trr at 100kHz is 0.75% of the period. Above 200kHz, consider MURS320 (200V/3A, 25ns) if your rail voltage allows.
The 100A surge rating is worth attention. At 3A average, that's a 33× surge multiplier. In PFC circuits where the inrush into the output capacitor can hit 60–80A for a few cycles, the MURS360 handles it without added limiting. One less NTC thermistor or relay bypass circuit to design in.

| Model | Type | Key Difference | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|
| MURS320T3G | ON Semi Ultrafast 200V | 200V/3A, 25ns trr, 0.875V VF, SMC | Lower-voltage rails needing speed |
| MURS340T3G | ON Semi Ultrafast 400V | 400V/3A, 50ns trr, 1.25V VF, SMC | Mid-voltage: PFC front-ends, 110V AC SMPS |
| MURS360T3G | ON Semi Ultrafast 600V SMC | Same 600V/3A/75ns, larger SMC package | Same specs, better heat dissipation |
| STTH3R06S | ST Turbo-2 Ultrafast 600V | 600V/3A, 35ns trr, 1.7V VF, SMC | Performance upgrade: faster recovery |
| VS-3EGH06-M3/5BT | Vishay FRED Pt 600V | 600V/3A, 32ns trr, 1.8V VF, SMB | Fastest recovery in SMB footprint |
MURS360BT3G vs MURS360T3G — SMB or SMC? Same silicon, different package. The SMB (BT3G) is smaller and cheaper. The SMC (T3G) has a larger leadframe for better heat dissipation.
If your layout has generous cathode copper pours and ambient stays below 65°C, the SMB version works fine at 3A. If you're pushing 3A in a sealed 85°C enclosure, the SMC version's lower thermal resistance is worth the extra board space.

Flyback SMPS Output Rectifier (230V AC Input): In a 65W flyback adapter, the MURS360BT3G rectifies the secondary winding. The 600V rating covers reflected primary voltage (~150V) plus leakage spike margin. The SMB package fits on the cramped secondary-side PCB next to the output capacitors and common-mode choke.
PFC Boost Diode (Transition-Mode, Sub-300W): The boost diode carries full output current during MOSFET off-time. At 150kHz, 75ns trr keeps recovery loss manageable. Above 300W, the 3A rating becomes marginal — use a TO-220 ultrafast or SiC diode instead.
High-Voltage DC-DC Freewheeling Diode: Offline buck converters stepping 325V DC to 24V or 48V need a freewheeling diode rated for the full bus voltage. The MURS360's 600V rating and 100A surge capability handle the worst-case inrush into a shorted output without failing short — critical for safety-agency compliance.
Inverter Snubber and Clamp Circuits: In solar microinverters and motor drives, the DC bus runs at 350–400V. Snubber diodes across IGBTs and MOSFETs see the full DC bus plus ringing. The MURS360BT3G's oxide-passivated junction and AEC-Q101 pedigree provide the reliability margin for 10–15 year field life.
EV On-Board Charger Output Rectification: OBC output stages run at 400–500V DC with 3–6A output current. Two MURS360BT3G in parallel (with small balancing resistors) handle 6A with redundancy. For PPAP-tracked programs, use SURS8360BT3G — same die, formal automotive documentation.
ON Semi authorized distribution. Every reel ships with ON Semi's original markings and lot traceability. The MURS3 series is widely second-sourced, and remarked parts with inferior trr or VF specs are a known issue in the high-voltage rectifier market. We source directly from ON Semi authorized channels.

A: Package size only — same silicon. BT3G = SMB (DO-214AA, smaller). T3G = SMC (DO-214AB, larger). Electrical specs are identical: 600V, 3A, 75ns, 1.25V VF. The SMC version has better thermal dissipation (lower RθJA). Choose SMB for space-constrained layouts, SMC for higher ambient temperatures or sustained 3A operation.
A: Yes — the "G" suffix adds Pb-free/RoHS compliance. The MURS360T3 is the older non-RoHS version, now obsolete. MURS360BT3G is the active SMB replacement. If your layout used MURS360T3 in SMC, you have two options: MURS360T3G (SMC, like-for-like) or MURS360BT3G (SMB, if you can shrink the footprint).
A: Not typically at ≤2A with decent cathode copper. At 3A with 1.25V VF, dissipation is 3.75W. With RθJA of 85°C/W on minimum pads, that's a 319°C junction rise — obviously you need more copper. Expand the cathode pad into a 10×10mm pour and RθJA drops to ~40°C/W, giving a 150°C rise. At TA = 65°C, TJ = 215°C — too hot. For 3A continuous, use the SMC version or keep ambient below 50°C with generous copper.
A: MURS320 if your rail is ≤150V. MURS360 if you need 600V headroom. The MURS320 gives you 25ns trr and 0.875V VF — faster and cooler. But 200V is its limit. On a 230V AC PFC output (~400V DC), the MURS320 has zero margin. The MURS360's 75ns and 1.25V are the price of 600V blocking. Pick the lowest voltage rating your rail actually requires.
A: Yes — SURS8360BT3G. Same die, same SMB package, same electrical specs. The difference: AEC-Q101 qualification with full PPAP documentation and production part approval process support. For non-automotive designs, the standard MURS360BT3G is tested to the same AEC-Q101 standard (the datasheet shows it), just without the formal paperwork trail.
A: SiC wins on speed and VF at light load; MURS360 costs less. A 600V SiC Schottky has near-zero trr and VF around 1.5–1.7V at 3A. At 100kHz, the MURS360's 75ns recovery loss is measurable but small. At 300kHz+, SiC's zero-recovery advantage dominates. For sub-150kHz designs, the MURS360 gives 90% of the performance at roughly 30–40% of the cost.
A: 2,500 units per 330mm reel. SMB package, 16mm tape width. The smaller SMB package means more parts per reel than an SMC equivalent — good for high-volume pick-and-place. Partial reels and cut tape are available for prototyping and low-volume production.
A: Yes, with current-sharing resistors. Ultrafast diodes don't share current naturally — the one with lower VF hogs current and thermally runs away. Add a small series resistor (0.1–0.22Ω) on each diode's anode to force sharing. At 3A per diode, you lose ~0.3–0.66V in the resistors — factor that into your efficiency budget. For a cleaner 6A solution, use a single TO-220 ultrafast like the MUR1560 (600V/15A).
